MAINLINE JAZZ EVERY WEDNESDAY
featuring Domo Branch Quartet, July 3rd
On his Facebook page, as one of his mentors points out, Dominick “Domo” Branch has written a short statement about himself. It says everything you need to know about Branch, who is already a high-level drummer who recently be moved to New York City to attend the New School of Jazz at the New School of Manhattan.
“I love jazz! Also I love jazz! What do I dream about … hmm jazz! What’s your favorite sport? Jazz!”
The mentor, Devin Phillips, saxophonist from New Orleans, says that his pupil could be on his way to big things. Branch has already played with accomplished musicians, and he’s way ahead of other drummers at his age. “He’s special,” Phillips adds. “And, he’s a Portland inner-city youth looking to make it big.”
Domo will be accompanied by Geoff Gallante on trumpet, George Colligan on piano and Jon Lakey on Bass.
Music starts at 7:30 pm. We offer a small plate menu. $5 cover at the door. 21+ only
