Alchemy. The face of jazz to come

A musical series at Teutonic every Friday night, in partnership with the Alan Jones Academy of Music (AJAM).

Portland native James Powers is starting to make waves as a talented trombonist, composer and bandleader in the Portland jazz scene. At twenty three, he has already begun to form his own disparate artistic voice with over a hundred compositions to his name. In addition to leading his own band, James is an demand-freelance and session musician who currently plays with Portland’s own March Fourth Marching Band, Cloud Six, Buddy Jay’s Jamaican Jazz Band and Andy Fuller and has toured across the US and in Japan.

James Powers Win-tet includes James Powers on trombone, Adam Rea on guitar, Eric Marks on bass, Demetrius Frank on drums.
